that sour taste

April 19th, 2010

…of failure. I messed up last Friday, and as it turns out I am too inexperienced and too much of  a failure to be taught as a proper trainer. They let me hit the ground running, and I went flat on my face. I should have called for help earlier, but I hoped it would be fine. It didn’t. :(

So they put me on sales duty until the end of my contract, and at the end of August my contract won’t be extended.
I had so hoped that this would be my big break, the fun job I hoped. And it IS fun… it just turns out that I suck too much at it and they don’t have time to teach me any more. I’m too inexperienced.

Back to the fucking drawing board AGAIN. :’(

  2. Aurelie says:

OMG :( That is incredibly shitty news. Take cares sweetie *hugs*

    That really sucks. :(

I kind of saw it coming. After things went wrong on Friday I had a complete meltdown because i knew it was the end of the line. I just wish I had been supported more along the way. I think I got my first actual direct feedback on my training two weeks ago. After eight months, that’s perhaps a bit late :(

I’m so sorry sweetie :( I just wish that what you predicted on friday hadn’t come so true. *big big hug*

Oh, that’s very shitty indeed :S. Your boss seemed a bit indirect in the communication department already, which is strange given that leadership is 100% about communication. It sounds a bit like they threw you into the fire far too early, being too impatient to actually train you properly.

far more people who are thrown in on the deep end sink than swim. This is why swimming lessons are mandatory in the Netherlands, and they should be just as mandatory in corporate life. It’s way too easy for them to say ‘ah, she just wasn’t the right person for the job’. How do they even know? They’re just standing there at the edge of the pool, looking surprised by the fact that you’re sinking. Why? Because one of the 50 people they ever hired for the job happens to have flippers for feet, and did manage to swim on the first go?

Anyway… I just think it’s horribly unfair to you, and I don’t think you suck.
    *hugs*

  9. I’m so sorry, hon. It takes two to get the most out of a person at work: the employee and their manager. It sounds as if you’ve been making all the effort and they haven’t done their part, and now you’re getting the consequences :(

So sorry to hear that :(
    *hugs*

*hug hug* I’m so sorry to hear this. :( I agree wholeheartedly what has been said above. *huggles*
