we will be victorious

If you’re looking for my Lowlands report, look downward sweet people, I backlogged the entry. :)

What I wanted to talk about instead is that… yay, I survived my first workweek! How about that :D It was really nice. I have nice co-workers with a good sense of humour, who quietly do their work but leave enough room for a fun chat. They all lunch together, and they have a radio playing in the office all day long.
They sat me down with a lot of documentation of the software that I need to learn and need to train people in, so I busied myself with that all week, pretty much. Today I’ve been putting myself to the test and been building a training that I need to give this week. It’s probably going to be a disaster, but that’s okay. They expect it to be, because then I can learn from it ;) So that’s all peachy.

It’s been pretty exhausting though – I haven’t been able to sleep off Lowlands, and worked all week, so I usually collapsed on the couch for over an hour (sometimes two) every evening. Tonight is the first night I haven’t, actually.
The week’s continued to be hot and sunny, until today. It was raining this morning and today it’s been that tempestuous weather that you come to expect early September… the end of summer is truly here. Check that picture! I took that one fifteen minutes ago. Does that look scary or what? Glad I’m not camping now, haha! But the good news is that today in the train (did I talk about my train commute yet? 5 minutes by train! Fifteen minutes in total! How awesome is that!!! *squeals excitedly), I spotted a rainbow, arching over Zoetermeer.

Just like with he WTC job – where for a while I’ve been as happy as I’ve ever been at work… at the end of my first week or so, I spotted a rainbow then, too. And call me superstitious, but that’s kind of what I needed to see. It means something to me – a bit of hope. Maybe this time I’ll get it right :)
