there’s a light in the distance waiting for me

So Friday night a bunch of drunken people (that’d be us) decided that we’d be going to the Tong Tong Fair (formerly Pasar Malam Besar)- since the week long festival was going to end this weekend and it’s being great festivalweather anyway. (I’m soooo jealous of all the Pinkpop people!!)

The Tong Tong Fair is an euraziatic festival that focuses on food, music and cultural stuff; they had this huge tent at the Malieveld in den Haag, full of food stands, jewellery, randomly assorted stuffs, and of course there were these terraces and patches of grass where you could laze in the sun and have a beer. Guess what WE did ;)

If you’re not awake enough to guess, here’s a hint: we ate Indonesian food (which was yummy) and lazed around in the grass with beer. In true festival fashion. Got a bit intoxicated, a bit sunburnt. Like it should be. So yeah, it was a great day :D

Today is the second day of Whitsun/Pentecost (whatever you non-dutch people call it, we call it Pinksteren) so we still have today off. For some reason I was up at 7.45 am, so I’ve opened up all the windows of the castle and hope to get some cool air in before it gets really warm around here. Because it does. Our castle has a lot of windows, so it heats up like crazy in summer. We’re probably going to buy a ceiling fan this afternoon :)

  • It’s great you had such a great time at that festival. I haven’t been there since I arrived in the Netherlands nearly 21 years ago.

I wish I could go out of the house, but I’m struck down with a cold from hell. I’ve got the back door open, but I’m not feeling well enough to venture outside in this lovely weather :( Have a great day :)
