thanksgiving, but different

Had a good time at Kat and Tijs’ place tonight. Kat’s been bummed for years about the lack of Thanksgiving here in the Netherlands and she misses that holiday fiercely; so she decided this year to at least have some people over for dinner. Tijs slaved away in the kitchen for us (Kat said she wanted to help out, but Tijs was all like: “Noooo, this is my MASTERPIECE!” *grins*) and we had a very nice dinner.

The boys went off to the jamstudio afterwards, and Kat and I were drinking the cranberry vodka that Olli has concocted the other day, so we stayed behind and just hung out and chatted. We had a great time, and all the cranberry vodka was gone. It was FUCKING tasty too by the way. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had alcohol anyway in a couple of weeks, but nom nom! It was really sweet on the first sip, but with every following sip it tasted better. On the rocks it’s made of awesome. So we’ll definitely do the cranberry thing again, Kat was already pleading with us to do so.
First up, however, apricots! We got some apricots at de Tuinen, so we’ve got some apricot vodka coming up one of these days. Next to the mint vodka and the cinnamon vodka.

The joke-idea of egg vodka has been vetoed by… well, pretty much everybody, after a poll on twitter. I was dry heaving at the sheer thought of it. While it may seem interesting to do from a science perspective, the concept of it has me nauseated so I don’t think we’ll give it a try. Sorry. :D

In other news, diet is going well, despite the fact that I had some alcohol and a not-completely-atkins-allowed meal last night. (Tijs had done his best though! It was really good: I had a few bites of mashed potato, a lot of salad, green beens with ham and cheese, and turkey – of course! However, the dessert was tiramisu and I just couldn’t help myself. it was soooo good <3) But yeah, I expected drama when I stepped on the scales this morning. However, no.
Update so far: I’ve lost 2.5kg, Olli has lost nearly 6kg (!!) in three weeks. Seems like we’re still doing well. I’m seeing numbers on the scales that I haven’t seen in a very long time, so this is great :)

Lots to be thankful for, I’d say :)
