roadtripping in the company car

September 17th, 2009

I think they might like me at my new job. In the last week of my trial month here at work they gave me the company car to go to a client in Rotterdam. A silvercoloured Toyota Aygo, that I’m happy to record is NOT wrecked by now.
Of course the engine stalled a few times at traffic lights, but that’s what you get when you drive you’ve never driven in before… I shall not feel guilty about that.
Also, I’d like to report that I drove into Rotterdam at rush hour, through a traffic jam, and that it all went smoothy. At least, I didn’t notice any new grey hairs with the colleague that was sitting next to me, haha :)

We sat in on a training and then went home to work remotely, because we can log onto the work portal and then work that way. There was no one at the office anyway, so my weekend starts early. WIN! :)
Makes it even fun to actually write out notes and observation, while sitting listening to the radio at my own desk in my own house… and then tomorrow I got the day off… for bass guitar lessons, yay! Also, I’m going to help Olli on Saturday with the Software Freedom Day event.

I’m more open source than I was two years ago when I went with him to the event, since my computer runs on Ubuntu completely these days. And it’s fine, apart from the fact that it borks my video card driver at times, which causes system freezes. But usually it’s brilliant (especially the apps for my cellphone, no drivers needed!). All the software and applications I run are opensource anyway, so why not ditch windows altogether, right? :)

In other news… no real news. Except for the Rebel Justice show in two hours, but that’s not RL related and won’t interest any of you. It makes me squee though, it’s so exciting!! *squees*
