Hi there everyone! I’m sitting at the kitchen table and typing this on my cutie pie from the castle :)

The move went really smoothly. We had lots of sweet people to help us out and the weather held up: all of the rain that fell yesterday was hours before and hours after the actual move, so that was already a great relief. Brenda and I positioned ourselves in the van together with Marco, piling up all of our stuff and annoyingly humming the tetris tune, while the others were carrying all of our stuff down.

ALL of our stuff fit neatly into the moving fan but for one set of items: our bikes. So while all of our stuff was moved in the van, Tijs and I grabbed the bikes and actually cycled to the new house. It was only five kilometers anyway, and the sun was shining merrily. It was a fun thing – for the barest moment in time I was bohemien… between houses, with nowhere to sleep if night should fall… and there I was, on my bicycle, talking and laughing with Tijs.
When we arrived at the castle, the moving van had only just pulled up there. It took us only the better part of an hour to drag all of our stuff inside in their respective rooms, and thus we found ourselves moved at 2.30pm already. After which there was beer.

Olli and I were so tired that we took a bath (together! in one bath! how awesome is that!!) went to bed at 8pm or something. We’d been going on way too little sleep the past few days with all that still had to be done and arranged… so we slept the clock round (over twelve hours) and woke up on Sunday morning in our castle. Today we went grocery shopping and then set to unpacking. Right now it’s 6pm and the kitchen is fully functional, our tiny dining table is standing proudly (until the new one arrives in a week or so), and Olli just put our bed together… the most important things are now solved.

Now all we have to do is to start unpacking the rest of our house. But the good thing is that it feels a lot more constructive than packing it up, and with each box we unpack, we are making the castle a bit more ours. :)

I’ve heard that packing/moving house is one of the most stressful things people experience. I’m glad yours was relatively stress free :)
