long days, long nights
Long day yesterday. We couldn’t really wake up in the morning and didn’t feel like physically doing stuff, so we decided to do some other very necessary work… shopping. We purchased new sand-coloured carpet for the top floor bedrooms, because we took out the floor in those rooms and then figured we might as well do some more shopping anyway. We need stuff, after all.
So we went to check out stores for a new couch and subconsequently got annoyed with the elevator music, marble floors, and overeager sales people. We did see a table that we really liked and we might come back for… but honestly the whole megastores were kind of a flop. Olli and I sat in the parking, looked at eachother and said: “Well then, we might as well go to Ikea, now that we’re at it anyway.”
And guess where we bought a new couch.
And a matching lazy chair. And a footbed. Ha! You can say what you want about Ikea, but at least there are no salespeople bothering you while you sit on the couch that you like and discuss possibilities. It’s really nice; it’s like the one on the picture to the right, but then dark brown with red pillows. The lazy chair is red like the pillows, and it all matches. Very nice stuff. It’ll be delivered this afternoon.
By the time we got to the castle we were completely wiped out and wondering how we should get ourselves motivated again. Olli took a powernap, while I went to check out our new shower. OH MY GOD. That shower was so good I could cry. It was beautiful. Best shower ever! As a matter of fact, I’m about to go there right now to have another shower. Imagine that I’ll be showering there forever now… too good to be true. :’)
And then we proceeded to do some more painting until freaking midnight. But we’re making good progress. And monodek paint does what it promises – you really need only ONE layer of paint for this stuff. It works like a charm.
So, guess what’s on the agenda: more painting! ![]()
At least I got people to help me today. That should be fun.

That is one really good thing about Ikea, and the reason I hate going to other places to shop. And the prices are a bit more doable in Ikea than elsewhere.

Eén van de redenen dat ik fan ben van de Ikea, ja
Natuurlijk helpt de lekkere taart en de goedkope koffie ook een handje mee

Nice couch! I’m glad the monodek paint works.
Good luck decorating; I know it can be really stressful while you’re at it, but when it’s done and you have a lovely home that’s all yours, it’s so worth it!
