flight of the bumblebee
We have a nest of bumblebees in the isolationwall. It’s been source for much hilarity so far, because they’re so utterly adorable. But since they’re with seven now (Olli counted them when they all came home last night) we were kind of dreading having to maybe exterminate them. Because they might be ruining things inside our wall.
They don’t sting, they’re terribly cute and busy with their nest, and they’re not really a nuisance… so as far as we were concerned they are completely welcome. But if they really would be ruining our wall…
Thankfully some googling told me that they won’t do our wall any harm. So we don’t have to do anything about them. A lot of exterminators even refuse to do anything about them since they’re so utterly harmless, and a protected species here in NL to boot.
And all I can say is hooray! Our bumblebees are totally welcome to stay in that regards. Although we might wanna start charging them rent

Yeah, if it had been wasps I would have said kill em no, but bumblebees aren’t as dangerous. The insects of course. The transformer is a danger to everyone around him…

We did, actually. We have a detector that can tell us whether there’s metal and/or wiring in our walls
We used it, and there isn’t any.
…I had to make sure the bumblebees weren’t building a new civilization in my wall, you know.

Ah, but what if a wall-mimicking robot was made of composites? Then it wouldn’t show up on the scanner…
My parents used to have a birdhouse that was squatted by bumblebees each year. There would be one or two hovering at the entrance for ventilation.
