You know, that feeling when you realize that your childhood hero is still awesome? That’s what I’m currently experiencing. I’m all warm and fuzzy and dreamy.
And Matthew Good is not even my childhood hero (unless you want to count six years ago as my childhood?). But I think his newest album “Vancouver” is very, very pretty. It’s a bit more upbeat than “Hospital Music” was, sometimes a bit more wistful, overall more catchy. The lyrics are still pretty sad at times, but that’s okay. When you make an album like this, with songs like “Last Parade” and “Empty’s Theme Park” and right in time for Nanowrimo, and you still connect with me as much as you did when I was twenty-three… well, you can’t do much wrong with me anymore.
I can’t wait to wallow in this album and give it a really THOROUGH listening to.
