Because I’d been a horrible slouch with the laundry I was kind of out of jeans this morning. I still had my formal slacks, but I didn’t feel all that formal… so instead, I grabbed one of my skirts from the closet (the other black one I have is sliding off my butt 
) and I’m wearing my skirt with my pretty boots. These are the boots I bought over from Bren a while ago – as a reference, also the ones I wore at the Halloween party and the Fantasy Fair.
And promptly people are commenting on it. My colleagues commented on my skirt-and-boots (why? when i started out at GS I was constantly wearing skirts!) and there was a random lady in the train who suddenly said out of nowhere: “You have the most awesome boots, where did you buy them?”
She has the same problem as I do; the wide calves. Nothing is slender or subtle about me, and least of all my legs. So finding knee-high boots is not something you do easily. This woman was very happy to hear about this shop in Alkmaar.
So score one for you and me, Bren! 
I’ve got the same problem with boots. My calves are so thick that normal boots don’t fit. There’s a shop here in Brielle that sells a brand called JJ which is good for those with wide calves
