high points of 2008

November 24th, 2008

For the personnel magazine here at work they asked us to list our high point of 2008. What, is it that time of the year already?!

Anyway, I listed Lowlands and the obtaining of my Post-Bachelor’s Degree… but deep down inside I have to admit that my high point of 2008 was actually that week in June when I quit my last job… I just didn’t feel like it’d be good form to list that in the magazine of my new employer.

But it begs the question… what has YOUR high point of 2008 been so far?
Don’t be shy, let me know!

I’d say joining the band was probably the best thing I did this year, although the 3 week holiday to the US was also awesome, especially visiting Washington DC and Frank Lloyd Wright’s House Falling Water…

Our holiday in England. We already wanted to go last year, but didn’t make it because of the floods. And this year we went, had a week of brilliant weather, saw some brilliant sites and celebrated everything English. ;)

I don’t know. 2008 was a shit year for me :p There are some great moments, like Graspop, and hitting Helsinki with Reetta and Johanna, and picking up roleplaying, and Soilwork, and finally kicking my ass to the gym, and getting my internship and nanowrimo, but…

hell, a lot of great moments, but the overal feel is still crap. Probably because it’s winter. Everything is so Goddamned dramatic in winter.

Easily, seeing The Tragically Hip in concert. Finally. Also right up there was seeing The Black Keys.

Heh – getting married. What else? :D

I was thinking that there was nothing specific to remember about this year. Was about to mention that the amount of travelling and hanging with friends was it, but then I realized that the real high point was getting back in touch with Magda. :)

Well, 2008 isn’t over yet, so I can’t quite tell you what the highlight of it is. if you want it for the year so far, then I’d have to say there are several:
    1. My father finally admitting his stupidity towards not having met my husband (unfortunately, it was tied in with the tragedy of 2007)
    2. The two holidays in southern Europe (Italy [could have done without Naples, mind you] and Malta)
    3. The birth of two beautiful baby girls from two friends of mine.
    4. Bon Jovi at the Amsterdam Arena in June.
    5. My new job (with the exception of one class I could do without).

That’s all for now. Who knows what the rest of November and all of December brings :)
