Robert Jordan is dead. He died September 16, 2007 from complications from primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (cardiac amyloidosis).
No kidding here… I found out just a bit ago, because George Martin dedicated an entry on him on his blog. Checked up on wikipedia (see link), and it’s true.
Never thought this would happen… he was fighting so hard against his illness, doing so much better already. Guess we’ll never know how the Wheel of Time series ends now.
We’ll never get to Tarmon Gai’don. ![]()
What a crying shame… I am pretty bummed about it.
Well, I’m sure other people will pick up his notes to write that final book
Still, it’s a tragic event. May he rest in peace.
I heard that he has given his wife the notes on how to finish the books. So hopefully we’ll have some ending to the stories.
Such a sad thing to happen. R.I.P.
Sil and I tried to access DM this morning but we couldn’t so we didn’t know until we both reached work. We were chatting on gmail when she just blurted out “omg Jordan has died”.
I’m kinda chilled to the bone. So sad – I thought things were going kind of ok-ish with him so it did come as a surprise. Just read GRRM’s blog as well. *sigh*
DM and WTDiv will remain but somehow it’s a little less meaningful without the author running around
It is sad that he died at such a relatively young age
He could have written other nice books beside finishing WoT himself.
I don’t think that his death will affect DM that much as we will get the last book at some point. It will take us years to get to the Last Battle and then we’re facing the question of what now. New fans who start reading only now will still wander in if maybe not as frequently as before.
