after the weekend…

October 17th, 2005

The past three days were so eventful that this Mondaymorning back at work it feels like I’ve been away for weeks. What a weekend it was. I signed the contract for our new house, attended my grandfather’s cremation, and moved into my new place.

The cremation was very sad. I nearly lost it when his girlfriend indeed handed me a few things that my grandfather wanted me to have: one was a mug I once gave him saying ‘for the sweetest grandfather in the world’ and inside that mug was what he had promised me all those years ago… I am now wearing his necklace and lion pendant around my neck. To remember him by, as he bid me to.

The move was exhausting, but we managed to move places fairly smoothly. Most of the kitchen, bathroom and the livingroom are in working order now but for the rest we’re pretty much sleeping on mattresses on the ground and living out of boxes. You know how it goes. That’ll probably stay for a while, but all in all it’s worth it. When I stood under that beautiful shower Saturday, it felt like pure bliss.

A new era is starting… *grins* I’m all ready for it, although I have to admit that I won’t mind it if this is the last big change to happen this year. After graduation, marriage, a job and a new house all in four months I’m kind of starting to wear thin. *smiles*

I’m so happy that the move went smoothly. That’s the biggest worry I have when moving: will it go well? I also know the feeling of having to live out of boxes for a while, but once you get everything out it will feel so fantastic. Good luck :)
