Well, actually, that's what I really liked about it. This movie, Princess Mononoke, and (maybe) Akira are the only anime I've ever seen that I really liked. But then, I like movies that are bizarre and full of symbolism. What I did see from the same makers was <i>Grave of the Fireflies</i> which is a beautiful, haunting, horrible, makes-you-shiver-and-cry account of the results of WWII on Japan.
