Alright, I’m going to start up with a Soap Opera here. The Soap Opera of my life – Let’s call it Summer Children.
First, let me introduce you to the players, the characters, and their current state of being.
Me. Nickname Lannie. Born July 28, will be 21 soon. Works at the sales department of a cable internet provider @Home. Blond, a little round in posture, with a sunny personality. Is going to start a study again after two years of working. Lives together and is engaged with Oliver.
Oliver. Fondly called Olli. Born July 30, will be 22 soon. Works at the Network Operating Centre as Network Analyst at the same cable internet provider: @Home. Broadly built, with fuzzy dark hair and skyblue eyes. Lives together and is engaged with Lannie.
Thomas. Born August 4, will be 19 yrs soon. Is also working at @Home, at the support department. A little skinny, long dark hair, dark eyes, and with large tattoo’s on his left arm and right leg. Lives with his parents right now, has been roommates with Lannie and Olli for half a year. Sticks often around at their apartment. He is involved with an American girl named Aleah, whom he will meet again in a few days, after a long distance relationship for half a year.
Nina. Born July 22, will be 20 soon. Colleague and good friend to Lannie, ex girlfriend to Olli. Slender, with dark eyes, a light complexion, and dark, curly hair. Wears long black braids at the moment. Lives in Purmerend in her own room, is planning to quit her study. She has a flashlight relationship with Erwin, an ex colleague from Aurelie’s boyfriend Sjoerd.
Aurelie. Born June 2, just turned 20. Old studypal and good friend to Lannie. Dark hair, a little round as well, with big brown eyes and a sweet smile. Lives together with roomie Martijn, has a relationship with Sjoerd. Is planning to quit her job as a secretary and to go working abroad for several months.
Bas. Born December 13, 22 yrs old. Old studypal and good friend to Lannie and Aurelie, ex boyfriend to Nina, good friend to Olli and Thomas. Lives with two roomies called Matthew and Cynthia in an apartment in Amstelveen. Is studying, but too lazy to do much about it. Currently unemployed. Is having a loose relationship with Mirjam.
Sjoerd. Born November 20, 21 yrs old. Brother to Tijs, boyfriend to Aurelie, loosely befriended with the rest of the group. Currently unemployed.
Tijs. Born January 29, 19 yrs old. Brother to Sjoerd, best friends with Thomas. Is studying some sort of architecture thingy, met Lannie and Thomas online, from then on befriended with the rest of the group. Is also involved in an online relationship with an Australian girl named Erin.
Time of the year: Beginning of July, summer holiday.
A turbulent time of the year, since half of us has his or her birthday in that period. Hence the title: Summer Children. I hope you’ll enjoy.

Nina is here. It seems as if Erwin dumped her (again), the shitface. I tell you, that guy cant seem to make up his mind. One moment he says he wants to grow old with her, the next he tells her he wants to quit because he ‘doesn’t have any special feelings for her besides friendship’. Nina is watching TV right now. I guess it distracts her. She is really silent and depressed. Thinks it’s her fault and stuff.
She’s spent the day with Erwin and Oliver today in Amsterdam in the parc all day. Olli is visiting some girl I loathed at highschool right now. That girl loathes me as well, so I think it’s for the best we don’t meet. *wry grin*. I’m not jealous I think… not really. It’s just that I cant stand her. She has treated me like dirt on high school when I was dating him because she was jealous. Those thriumpant looks when he spent some time with her… Bleh. No, I really don’t like her. But oh well, I hope he has fun.
I’ve been at work all day, naturally. It was a positive madhouse at the sales today – Nina rolled her eyes and isn’t really looking forward to work tomorrow. Neither am I, actually. I sold 24 memberships today, which is really insanely much. Late shift tomorrow, oh joy.
