More writing. 
Some lovely english lines have had to bite the dust, but other lines were (to my surprise) greatly improved because they’re now written in dutch! What I’m basically doing is opening two files, looking at the original scene, think what can be improved, and then rewrite the scene in dutch plus improvements. Some things hardly had to change at all, others are edited heavily. There’s still a lot of crud in there, but I’ll leave that for the edits. First, let’s get the bloody thing on the paper, right?

Sunday, November 13th, 2011Ah, this is a pity. I’m losing a line in the translation of the story. Here’s what I said about it in 2006: “I named the chapter title after one of their lyrics: Burning down the highway skyline. It doesn’t make much sense if you’re not me, probably… but to me it sounds horribly profound and totally Joy/Seamon.”
It’s because the song is talking about falling in love with someone who is not mr Right, but you love him anyway because it’s the best you can get. And it completely covers the dysfunctional relationship between my two MC’s. But there’s no way in hell I can slip that easter egg into the Dutch translation, what a shame

Saturday, November 12th, 2011Because we all like distractions, I immersed in writing today and tried to ignore that I’m feverish with flu and that I feel like arse mentally as well.
I just hung out with Joy, Valeria and Seamon and I even had a bit of a laugh when this happened.
