for we live in sin for we will win

I had a good time yesterday – we had a bit of a company party, in which we had pie because the company exists for 65 years this month… and then we went bowling. Hilarity ensued of course. I still suck at bowling, but my second run was at least halfway decent (71 points) instead of truly abysmal (52 points in the first run). My colleague N dropped me off at home since she lives in the neighbourhood, so that saved me a traintrip.
I was home at 9.30pm or something, so I grabbed a drink and my Cutie Pie and went to bed for some chatting and surfing… I couldn’t even stay awake until Olli came back from his jam session. Totally beat again — am I turning into a wussy now that I live in Nuttyville?

Thursday was the same story, but at least I had the excuse of fitness for the first time in a month. I was dreading going back to fitness a bit because I feared that my condition would have turned for the worse and I would be back at square one again. Turns out it didn’t! Some of the weights were even too light for me, and my heartrate remained nicely below 150 despite the fact that I spent 30 minutes on the crosstrainer instead of just fifteen minutes. I was very pleased about that. The only thing that was hard of my was my crunches/stomach muscle exercises. I’m still reaping the rewards on that one (ouch!). But it’s worth it.
And obviously the whole paint experience here in the castle has been a bit of a workout as well, otherwise I would have been in much worse shape. :)

Today Olli and I went to Ikea to buy some prettifying yet practical items for the house, and that completely wiped us both out as well. It’s just so exhausting to go shopping! Too much stuff, too warm an environment, people everywhere… I always walk out frazzled, thirsty and wanting to kick people. But at least we got some good loot: a drawer for the hallway and a pretty mirror :)

there was no way we could fail

So Olli and I went to the old pad last night to clean up the last bits and then to turn in the keys and say goodbye to the apartment that has hosted us for the past two years. That was the plan.

This is how it went: I turned the key, opened the door, walked up the stairs (wobbling with my arms full of tools and cleaning stuff) and then I heard voices. Lots of voices. Turns out that the new tenants already MOVED IN, while there was still some of our stuff left standing there. What the hell? So that made the additional cleaning superfluous, I guess. We picked up our stuff (mostly plants and Olli’s toolkit), told them to keep the still-hanging lamps, and then went to turn in our keys with the landlord. Who also had a WTF moment earlier that day; he’d given the new tenants he key so they could already check out the house, but by checking out THEY obviously thought it was okay to move in their stuff already.

…Yeah, weird huh? Anyway, the landlord asked for our bank account number to return the advance pay we’d given them way back in 2007, we made some smalltalk (as in, they talked, we listened) and that was the end of it. We drove out of Rijswijk and onwards to Nuttyville, where our new castle is still being unpacked.
A new era, indeed!

if you don’t live for something you’ll die for nothing

This one was taken this morning at 8.30am in our kitchen. It shows me tired, but happy – and in a completely sunlit kitchen, at our diningtable with my laptop cutie pie. It completely describes my life right now, so I thought I’d share. :)
If you want more pictures of us painting and goofing off during our house redecoration, you can find the rest at my Picasa page. :)
